How to take
VUMERITY

During your first week, you’ll take the starter dose (231 mg) as one pill twice a day.

After your first week, you’ll take the regular dose (462 mg) as two pills twice a day. It's important to take VUMERITY® (diroximel fumarate) exactly as prescribed by your
healthcare provider.

Swallow VUMERITY whole. Do not crush, chew, or sprinkle contents on food.

If you take too much VUMERITY, call your healthcare provider or go to the nearest hospital emergency room
right away.

What should you know about food?

If you take VUMERITY with food, avoid taking with a high-fat, high-calorie meal or snack.
  • Your meal or snack should contain no more than 700 calories and no more than 30 grams of fat

Here are two examples that follow these guidelines:

MEAL 1
  • 1 whole wheat English muffin 
  • 2 tablespoons peanut butter 
  • 1 small hard-boiled egg
  • 1 medium banana
  • 8 ounces 2% reduced-fat milk
MEAL 2
  • 4 ounces grilled skinless chicken breast
  • 1 cup cooked white rice
  • 1 cup cooked and salted broccoli
  • 1 tablespoon salted butter
  • 1/2 cup vanilla ice cream
What should I avoid while taking VUMERITY?
  • Do not drink alcohol at the same time you take your VUMERITY dose

Sticking to a regular schedule may help you remember to take it twice a day.

Your healthcare provider's office and your insurance company will work together to order it from a specialty pharmacy. This type of pharmacy carries medicines that need special handling or storage. Once an order is placed on your behalf, it is shipped directly to you.
